“My experience in this organization has exceeded any expectations I had prior to being accepted into it. I have truly felt empowered and supported from the very beginning. The women who lead this organization are so genuinely and selflessly invested into each and every one of our futures as well as our personal growth and it is very appreciated. Everybody deserves to experience the greatness that is within this organization.
My mentor is Samara Brown and we are literally a match made from (Thrive) Heaven. She is phenomenal beyond any words that I could think to say, and I could never express my gratitude enough. I’m getting emotional while typing this because she is truly a blessing. We are so similar which has helped me to feel validated and seen especially when I’m struggling to figure life out, but she pours into me constantly. She has provided me with the resources I need to prepare me for my next steps, encourages me when I feel incapable of success or like I’m “too much” and made me aware of things I was never aware of as a first generation college student, among other things. I am extremely grateful for her and this organization for placing us together.
This program has definitely lived up to its name because I have grown to feel empowered and like I am capable of anything because of the tools and resources it’s equipped me with. I went from failing college to being on the Dean’s List and holding a leadership position, something I haven’t done since high school. I am more confident in my thoughts and feelings as well as my future and my success because of this program and I am so grateful to be apart.”

“My experience as a member of Thrive Women's Empowerment was amazing. I learned so much about myself as a leader and I became more confident in my abilities. My mentor gave me some great professional advice and guidance. My mentor helped me to improve my resume and tailor it for specific opportunities I was applying to. She also conducted mock interviews with me so I could get more comfortable. I became less shy and reserved after completing the program. The work that Aliyah, Lexxus, and the rest of the Thrive Women's Empowerment team do is so important for young women. My leadership experience in the organization propelled me to higher heights and prepared me for the positions that came after it.”

“My experience in Thrive Inc. was beneficially challenging and helped me grow in many areas. It helped develop my organizational skills immensely. I was always able to call my mentor when I needed advice and it worked out perfectly because my weaknesses were her strengths. I noticed that I was able to develop my leadership skills which helped me become a better President for my other organization on campus. Thrive was the first mentorship program I joined, and it has one of the best Experiences of my life. I met some amazing people and I got to grow in my professional development.”

“My experience with Thrive has been beyond impactful and fulfilling. I've been able to grow and aggrandize professionally and emotionally. Thrive fostered an avenue for me to develop relationships conducive to necessary professional mentorship. My thrive mentor served as a support system for both my professional and personal goals by ensuring that I was held accountable for all target points that were created as a measure of growth. Overall, thrive offered an expansion in my leadership, voice, and impact. Furthermore, thrive offered an extended audience for my personal brand, I'll Keep Her to flourish. Within thrive, I became bolder in developing an audacity to take on more challenging career opportunities. Thrive Women's empowerment is a significant non-profit organization that exposes young women to prominent values and opportunities necessary for personal/professional development. I am so grateful that I've been presented with this opportunity!”

"My experience with Thrive has been once in a lifetime. Coming to NCA&T my freshman year, I wasn’t really involved as I wanted to be. Thrive has provided me with a space where I can interact with other college students in the Greensboro area, participate in activities outside of my comfort zone, and provide service in the Greensboro community more than I did during my freshman year. Everyone that is part of Thrive pushes me to be the best person I can be and really motivate me to go after every single opportunity that catches my eye. The program has pushed me to apply to internships and co-ops that I might’ve been too afraid to do before. The monthly meeting on resume tips and building guided me to revamp my resume and I believe that is part of the reason why my confidence in myself career wise has strengthened. My mentor, Aliyah has really helped me with figuring out and solidifying my plans post graduation. Although we don’t work in the same fields, Aliyah has been a big help with her advice and motivation towards considering more than one option instead of just trying to stick on one path because multiple paths can lead to the same destination. Personally, she’s given great advice when I’ve experienced family hardship as well as helping to get over imposter’s syndrome. Overall, I’ve seen myself venture out and take on opportunities that I was too afraid to do before. I’ve met new people and have more people to support me on my collegiate journey. I’ve also had growth academically with experiencing a boost in my cumulative gpa as Thrive has provided me with a community of young women who perform well academically and it encourages me to follow in their footsteps!"
